These converted barns are located in a stunning rural setting, enjoying fine views across the surrounding countryside towards the hills of Dartmoor. Within the Torridge Valley, these properties sit on the edge of a select development with two further barns also undergoing renovation.
Set in the grounds of the Grade II Listed farmhouse which dates back to the medieval period, we worked closely with the Local Authority, English Heritage and the client. Obtaining listed building consent and planning permission in the ‘open countryside’ was a challenge but the resulting development has certainly improved the area.
Both these barns were sympathetically designed maintaining key features and retaining much of the barns character. Both barns have feature two storey entrances and open plan layouts on the ground floor with good sized rooms throughout.
